From Koh Lipe to Langkawi to Singapore

March 04, 2017

(Português no fim)
We took the long tale boat to the ferry in Koh Lipe as I mentioned in the previous post… While we were waiting to disembark the small boat we were bumping against the big ferry, I was so distracted that I’ve left my hand on the rail, you know what followed right? My hand got stuck between both boats, Pedro was seated behind me and saw what was going to happen, he yelled but it was too late! A lot of blood, but nothing broken. My wedding ring saved my finger but lost the rounded shape and became useless (impossible to wear). Everyone helped us with the kids and the bags out of the boat…The journey was smooth and quick (slightly more than an hour I think, don’t really remember).
We arrived in Langkawi and had to stay a night since we couldn’t find a flight to Singapore the same day. We chose a place at the beach close to the airport. It was ok, a little old and “strange” (sorry I cannot find a better word to describe it). The rooms were good but the hotel really needed some refurbishment, it was falling apart form the outside, there were a lot of people there but not a single person at the beach nor in the pool, it was really an awkward place! The restaurant was not working so we had to take a golf cart (or walk) to the other hotel for the meals.
To get a beer there it was difficult! Most of the hotel restaurants, being muslim, didn't serve alcohol and we were not the only ones “shocked”, there were some English desperate for some beers and a group from Spain that had bought some before arriving (smart people)! LOL We spent the afternoon at the pool, the beach there is not very good, it's not real sand (more like mud) and the water is not very inviting. The swimming pool was not very inviting either, but with the kids it doesn´t make any difference…they’ll be entertained.
Thankfully we were only there for 24h! I don't think we could have handled it a second more… Many people from around the world advised us not to go to Malaysia and, from what we saw, there are much better places to go!

Todas as restantes áreas do hotel eram ‘zona seca’.
