Favorite place in Thailand? Definitely Koh Lipe!

(Português no fim)
You only have a few days in Thailand? Go to Chiang Mai for a few days, fly to Langkawi and take a boat to Koh Lipe… It’s the best place ever! Not crowded at all, but with some people to give the place some life!
We arrived and off course there was no pier, so you leave the boat with water up to your waist and at least they carry the bags to shore. We were staying on the opposite side of the island, it’s walking distance but with the heat, the bags and the kids it was not an option, we took a 3 minute tuck tuck.
We couldn’t believe the place, it’s right on the beach, the bungalows were ok and the people there were incredibly nice! That place comes with a bonus if you are traveling with small kids, there are some kids around, exactly the same age as Teresa and Francisco.
Best beach in the Island is Sunrise beach, less crowded and no big boats, just a lot (and I mean a lot) long tail boats… We were a little shocked when we arrived, but they are out most of the day and in front of the hotel is a “no parking” area, perfect! We walked along the beach every day and there are amazing, almost desert places, with rocks on the water that kids loved. We would go there every day for them to jump from the rocks to the water, it was good fun!
We decided to spend all the time at the beach, we didn't know if this was our last days by the sea… We found a perfect place for lunch, feet on the sand, good and very cheap food, right next door to us! In the afternoon Pedro and I would lay on some bean bags by the sea while the kids played with other kids, we didn't even see them and we didn't care, there were always someone looking after them (tks!)
At night we went out every day, we were very impressed with the amount of bars and restaurants in such a small island, from cool European like restaurants to the typical Thai and Indian places. There were a lot of shops (all selling the same kind of stuff) and massage parlors. The walking street was alive at night!
Although we preferred to go out and have dinner somewhere in walking street we absolutely loved the Castaway resort restaurant. Food was delicious and it was right at the beach, the moon was full when we went there and the light reflecting in the sea was beautiful. On the way back to the hotel, walking along the beach, with the feet in the water we saw so much plankton that kids were running happily looking for it and trying to grab some…
The departure of this place is hilarious! The closest airport is Langkawi, in Malaysia, so customs and immigration apply. Plastic table at the beach and an officer asking for tickets and passports, “Check in”. When they are done they call one by one and you take your passport to customs and immigration at the beach, they keep your passport (we found it a little strange). All set and you are ready to go, first a long tale boat that takes you to a big ferry, anchored far from the beach due to the shallow water…
After we left this place we regretted not having stayed a couple of days more. It was sooooo good the time we spent in Koh Lipe!
*****
Vão visitar a Tailândia e têm pouco tempo?
