Behind de scenes... And my AMAZING JACKET!

I’m really happy to be able to sew more things for me. I definitely need a new wardrobe! I used to sew all the time for the kids, it was more or less like this: 85% for Teresa, 10% for Francisco and the remaining 5% for me. I have trouble finding enough fabric for me on my stash, I’m used to buy small quantities of each fabric for the kids. I don't have anything with 2 meters or more. I keep saying I’m not going to buy more fabrics and use my stash but then, every time I’m picking fabric for me is never enough (a funny story about latter in a few days…)

So, the reason that made me write in the blog today: THE JACKET! I absolutely love it! I’ve been using it non stop since it came out of the sewing machine!

I bought this fabric in Singapore, as soon has we decided Singapore was our last spot I went fabric shopping, HEY !!! I didn't buy much, almost nothing, only a few meters of this gorgeous fabric. I have no clue about the king of fabric, its like the ponchos from Peru (I don’t even know how to describe it). I’m really sorry for my ignorance… Well, when I saw it I knew immediately I wanted to make a jacket, nothing to complicated since this fabric don’t obey to an iron, falls apart by the second, not easy at all to work with. I went through all my patterns, through all the internet and couldn't find anything I felt like doing. After a few days I went back to my Japanese books, I was sure I was going to find something on that simple aesthetic.

Here it is!

I try to do the “photo shoots” all at once at home, so it was a fun morning that involved a lot of clothes changing for both me and Teresa. Francisco was always asking to take his picture too, so once in a while he got the flash on his face… But once again, as always, Teresa was the star of the show!

Estou mesmo contente de andar a coser mais para mim. Estou mesmo a precisar de um armário novo! Faço muito mais coisas para os miúdos que para mim, é mais ou menos assim: 85% para a Teresa, 10% para o Francisco e os restantes 5% para mim. Tenho sempre imensa dificuldade em encontrar tecidos cá em casa para mim, estou habituada a comprar quantidades pequenas de cada tecido para os miúdos. Não tenho nada com mais de 2 metro, e mesmo 2 metros é uma sorte. Tenho tentado não comprar tecidos e usar os que tenho em casa, sempre que estou a escolher tecido para mim nunca tenho suficiente (tenho uma historia engraçada sobre isso, daqui a uns dias conto…)

Bom, mas vamos ao post de hoje: o meu CASACO! Adoro! Tenho usado sem parar desde que saiu da máquina de coser!

Comprei este tecido em Singapura, desde que decidimos que Singapura ia ser o nosso ultimo destino da viagem que fui directa a uma loja de tecidos, VIVA!!! Não comprei quase nada apenas alguns metros deste tecido lindo. Nem sei dizer que tipo é, parece aqueles ponchos dos Peru. Desculpem a minha ignorância… Quando o vi soube imediatamente que queria fazer o blazer, não podia ser nada muito complexo porque este tecido é “horrível” de trabalhar, não obedece ao ferro e desfia que é uma coisa doida. Procurei em todos os meus moldes, pela internet e não encontrei nada adequado e que me apetecesse fazer. Depois de alguns dias voltei a procurar na minha coleção de livros japoneses, tinha a certeza que ia encontrar alguma coisa naqueles moldes simples.

Tento tirar as fotografias todas de uma vez lá em casa, foi uma manha divertida que envolveu muita troca de roupa para mim e para a Teresa. O Francisco estava sempre a pedir fotografias, de vez enquanto la fingimos que também precisávamos de fotografias dele… Mas, uma vez mais, como sempre, a Teresinha foi a estrela principal! Want a free pattern? This dress is TOP!

Republique du Chiffon

I discovered this pattern as soon as it came out. I tired to make it but it went wrong since the beginning so I gave up and moved on to other projects. When I was unpacking the boxes I found the unfinished dress on the “failed projects” pile and decided to give it another go. I really like the shape of the dress, the “baggy style” is my thing! I wanted to use this Atelier Brunette fabric but wasn’t sure, since everything that could go wrong in sewing happened last time I decided to make this pattern. Well… I could always recycle it! The fabric is so soft and comfortable. Perfect for all seasons, with layers and tights for winter and in summer just the dress, light and fresh!

I took the pictures 2 weeks ago when it was still freezing in Madrid. You can see me in tights and I’ve used it with a cardigan on top. Now I’ve throw the tights in the closet and have been using it like a summer dress over and over again… I just love this dress!

Descobri este molde assim que saiu. Tentei fazê-lo mas correu mal desde o principio, por isso desisti e fui fazendo outras coisas. Quando estava a desempacotar caixas encontrei o vestido inacabado no monte de “projectos falhados” e decidi que estava na altura de o voltar a fazer. Adoro a forma do vestido, o estilo “largarão” é a minha cara! Queria mesmo usar este tecido de Atelier Brunette mas estava insegura, da ultima vez que fiz este mode tudo o que podia correr mal, correu! Bom… Poderia sempre reciclar o tecido! Este tecido é mesmo suave e conforto. Perfeito para todas as estações, em camadas e com meias no inverno e no verão apenas o vestido, leve e fresco!

Quanto tirei as fotografias ainda estava imenso frio em Madrid. Como podem ver estou de meias e usei um casaco de malha por cima. Nos últimos dias arrumei as meias todas no armário e tenho andado de pernas de fora. Um vestido de verão que tenho usado vezes sem conta… Adoro este vestido!
