I discovered this pattern as soon as it came out. I tired to make it but it went wrong since the beginning so I gave up and moved on to other projects. When I was unpacking the boxes I found the unfinished dress on the “failed projects” pile and decided to give it another go. I really like the shape of the dress, the “baggy style” is my thing! I wanted to use this Atelier Brunette fabric but wasn’t sure, since everything that could go wrong in sewing happened last time I decided to make this pattern. Well… I could always recycle it! The fabric is so soft and comfortable. Perfect for all seasons, with layers and tights for winter and in summer just the dress, light and fresh!

I took the pictures 2 weeks ago when it was still freezing in Madrid. You can see me in tights and I’ve used it with a cardigan on top. Now I’ve throw the tights in the closet and have been using it like a summer dress  over and over again… I just love this dress!

Descobri este molde assim que saiu. Tentei fazê-lo mas correu mal desde o principio, por isso desisti e fui fazendo outras coisas. Quando estava a desempacotar caixas encontrei o vestido inacabado no monte de “projectos falhados” e decidi que estava na altura de o voltar a fazer. Adoro a forma do vestido, o estilo “largarão” é a minha cara! Queria mesmo usar este tecido de Atelier Brunette mas estava insegura, da ultima vez que fiz este mode tudo o que podia correr mal, correu! Bom… Poderia sempre reciclar o tecido! Este tecido é mesmo suave e conforto. Perfeito para todas as estações, em camadas e com meias no inverno e no verão apenas o vestido, leve e fresco!

Quanto tirei as fotografias ainda estava imenso frio em Madrid. Como podem ver estou de meias e usei um casaco de malha por cima. Nos últimos dias arrumei as meias todas no armário e tenho andado de pernas de fora. Um vestido de verão que tenho usado vezes sem conta… Adoro este vestido!

I went to buy some shoes for the kids but the only color available in both sizes was mustard… I had to make some matching clothes LOL. I’ve had some Cotton and Still mustard fabric in my stash for some time and it was exactly the same color as the shoes! I’ve searched through the patterns and it was not enough for a dress or tunic, so I had to “invent” something… The Rowan Tee is a pattern that I’ve used several times, I love it! I grabbed the Rowan tee sized up 2 sizes and used the back and front has a base, i’ve made a cut in the back and finished the neckline and arm holes with bias tape, adding a big collar. I’m a sucker for collars! I’ve taken some pictures of the steps, just in case you want to try it!

Teresinha has been using it non stop… I guess I’ll make it again but slightly “A line” next time! Just need to check shoes first before deciding on the fabric LOL

Fazer um corte nas costas. Este molde é para tecido com elasticidade, por isso precisava de uma abertura para poder passar a cabeça.

Fui comprar sapatos para os miúdos outro dia, a única cor que havia do tamanho dos dois era amarelo mostarda… Obvio que tinha que fazer roupa a condizer HAHAHA! Já tenho há imenso tempo um tecido de Cotton and Still cor mostarda no meu armário, era exatamente da mesma cor que os sapatos! Andei à procura de um molde mas não tinha tecido suficiente nem para um vestido nem para uma tunica, ia ter que “inventar”… Adoro o molde para t-shirts Rowan Tee, já fiz varias vezes! Agarrei no molde e tracei dois tamanhos acima, usei a frente e as costas como base. Fiz um corte nas costas (para poder passar a cabeça) e terminei o colarinho e debaixo dos braços com fita de vies. Adicionei também uma gola, adoro golas grandes! Tirei fotografias dos passos, para o caso de querem experimentar! 

A Teresinha está farta de vestir… Acho que vou ter que voltar a fazer, mas da próxima vez vou fazer mais largo em baixo! Tenho que comprar primeiro sapatos para ver de que cor escolho o tecido HAHAHAHA

Lets get this sewing party started on this blog! I have to admit then when I was invited to this tour I said no way I’m doing this… I had just returned from our year long travel, had no house and the sewing machines in boxes! It’s impossible to have everything ready for the tour! But then… I started to think that this was the perfect excuse to get back to sewing, plus the kids are in desperate need for some clothes!

I’ve sewed a lot of Olga’s Patterns, they are all great! I lost count of how many Mulberry Tunics I’ve made in the past. I wanted to try every single pattern, but you know how it goes, the plans are always far too ambitious! I've manage to make 3 and a half items, the gorgeous Polina dress just left the cutting table, still needs to go trough the sewing process. Latter I’ll show you…

I love tunics! It’s the most used item around the house, so it was logic that the Ania Tunic was my first choice… Here it is! 

My favourite off all Olga’s patterns? The coolest dress ever, the Antalya! I wanted to make it more like “overall skirt” than a dress, so I’ve sewed only the front and back pieces and omitted the sides. I’ve used bias binding all around to finish it. I was so happy with the result that I couldn't wait to try it on Teresa, mark the hem and get it finished… But as soon as I got the Antalya “overall skirt” and looked at my tinny monkey I realised that it was gonna be way way big on her (insert sad face here). Well, better big than small, they grow up so fast, before I realise she will be perfect in it! 

The last one was the the Vasilisa Top. Did you know it’s free? 

Since Teresa has a huge baby belly I didn't do the elasticised shirring at the bottom. I also changed the bias at the neck and instead of the ties i’ve used a button.

Vamos lá começar esta festa aqui no blog! Tenho que admitir que quando me convidaram para este “tour” disse que de maneira nenhuma podia participar… Tinha acabado de voltar da nossa viagem de um ano, não tinha casa e as máquinas de costura estavam ainda em caixas! Seria impossível ter tudo pronto a tempo! Mas depois… comecei a pensar que seria a desculpa ideal para recomeçar a coser, além de que os miúdos estavam, desesperadamente, a precisar de roupa!

Fiz vários moldes da Olga, são todos top! Já perdi a conta de quantas túnicas Mulberry fiz no passado. Queria ter feito todos os moldes, mas já sabem como é, os nossos planos são sempre demasiado ambiciosos! Mesmo assim consegui fazer 3 e meio, o vestido lindo Polina acabou de sair da mesa de corte, ainda tem que passar pelo processo de coser. Mostro depois…

Adoro túnicas! É a coisa que mais se usa cá em casa, por isso a minha primeira escolha foi obvia, o molde Ania.

Qual o meu molde preferido? O vestido super cool Antalya! Queria fazer em formato jardineiras e não vestido, cosi apenas as partes de atras e frente, omitindo os laterais. No fim rematei tudo com fita de vies. Fiquei mesmo contente com o resultado, estava desejosa que a Teresinha chegasse para marcar as bainhas e terminar… Assim que peguei nas “jardineiras” e olhei para a minha pequena macaquinha reparei logo que ia estar enorme (cara triste aqui). Bem, mas melhor grande que pequeno, eles crescem tao rápido que daqui a uns dias já lhe vai estar óptimo! 

O outro molde que usei foi o Vasilia Top. Sabem que é grátis?!?

Como a Teresa tem uma enorme barriga de bebe não fiz a parte elástica da cintura. Também substitui as fitas para o laço por um botão.

Last year, this day, we started a new life… After a long flight we started exploring the world!

We are now back, it was not easy to adjust at the beginning. We were used to be in control of our “time” and as soon as we arrived our lives were full of obligations and we can’t do whatever we feel like anymore. For the kids I guess it was easier, they are just kids, they adapt to everything. The most difficult thing for them was not having our full attention all the time anymore and the days full of plans and things to do were over. 

We will speak about our back to reality latter, we have been so busy getting settled that we didn't have much time to think about it…

Faz hoje 1 ano, que neste mesmo dia, começamos uma nova vida… Depois de um longo voo começamos a explorar o mundo!

Já estamos de volta, não foi nada fácil ao principio. Estávamos habituados a ter o control total do nosso “tempo” e desde que chegámos que estamos cheios de “obrigações” e já não podemos fazer o que nos apetece todo o tempo. Para os miúdos acho que foi mais fácil, são crianças e adaptam-se a tudo. A pior diferença para eles foi deixarem de ter a nossa atenção total as 24h, os dias cheios de programas e coisas para fazer acabaram. 

Algum dia falaremos sobre o estar de volta à realidade, temos andado tao ocupados que ainda não tivermos tempo para pensar a serio sobre o assunto…

Hoje é sobre a nova “casa virtual”, este nosso pequeno blogue! Nova cara, nova decoração, novos assuntos… Vai ser um blogue de manualidades! É o que mais gosto de fazer! Continuaremos a partilhar as nossas aventuras familiares, pretendemos continuar a viajar e a fazer coisas giras com os miúdos, mas de momento, a nossa vida familiar será bem normal, escola, trabalho, como qualquer outra familia!
