Although it’s quite far from Bangkok it’s really worth it! We took the train in the morning, the local non air conditioned train, cost is 0,40€ for a 2 hour journey! We were expecting the worst, but it was not so bad after all… You need to be at the station sometime before the train departure, so you can be one of the first to board the train and get a place to sit. People start to board the train when it’s still moving! It’s crazy! We did the same and managed a seat each, so the kids were able to lay down and slept most of the journey, when we got there we had our butts squared LOL!
We stopped for a lunch at a little restaurant right outside the station and headed to explore what was before the capital of Thailand. It’s very well organised, since the monuments and interesting places are spread on a large area, impossible to walk, you rent a tuk tuk and pay by the hour. Since they don’t speak english they have guides with pictures and ask you where you wanna go, from one place to another. We didn't even see half of it, it was boiling hot and too much for the kids, so we saw what it looked more attractive to us on the pictures and decided on a 2h visit! It was more than enough to have a taste of the place and everyone enjoyed, mom, the kids and us!
On the way home the train was a slower one, so it would take us 2h40 plus 45minutes from the station home. Kids were too tired but no way we managed to put them to sleep again, what a nightmare! When we were approaching Bangkok (but still more than an hour left) we heard someone saying that we were going to pass near the Chatuchak market. That would be perfect for us, we had skyline and would take us very little to get home. Pedro asked a guy in uniform and he tolds to jump from the train in the middle of nowhere under a bridge, we had literally 2 seconds, all the local people were looking at us. When we open google maps to see where, it was still 4km to the market! Since we were in the middle of nowhere we couldn't see any taxi or tuk tuk so we started walking, it was late, dark and we were tired. We started to see some taxis but due to the traffic jams no one wanted to take us.
After some time we ended up getting a taxi to get to that skyline station and from there we went home. It ended up taking hot more time…

Fica um bocado longe de Bangkok mas vale a pena. Apanhamos o comboio de manhã, o publico e sem AC que custou 0,40€ para um trajecto de 2 horas! Estávamos à espera que fosse muito mau mas acabou por não ser. É preciso estar na estação com tempo para poder ser dos primeiros a entrar, caso contrário é impossível ter um lugar sentado.
É tudo um bocado loucura mas as pessoas começam a entrar para o comboio antes dele parar. Nós acabamos por fazer o mesmo e arranjamos lugares sentados todos juntos e até deu para os miúdos dormirem. Chegamos a Ayuttaya com os rabos quadrados.
Almoçamos num pequeno restaurante mesmo à saída da estação e depois começamos a excursão pelas ruínas da antiga capital da Tailândia. Está tudo muito bem organizado. Os pontos de interesse estão muito espalhados e é impossível andar entre eles. Aluga-se um tuktuk e paga-se à hora. Eles não falam ingles mas tem todos os pontos de interesse numa folha com fotos e é fácil chegar a um acordo em relação ao trajecto que queremos fazer.
Obviamente que não vimos nem metade de Ayuttaya mas estava muito calor por isso fomos aos pontos principais e acabamos por fazer um passeio de 2 horas. Foi suficiente para ficar com uma ideia e todos gostamos. O comboio de regresso era mais lento e íamos demorar 2h 45m a chegar a casa. Os miúdos estavam estoirados mas não dormiram e a viagem pareceu interminável. Já mais perto de Bangkok (a cerca de 1 hora) alguém disse que íamos passar no mercado de Chatuchat. Para nós era perfeito porque podíamos sair aqui, apanhar o skytrain até à porta de casa e evitar o trânsito todo de Bangkok. O Pedro perguntou a um dos senhores do comboio que nos disse que sim, que podíamos sair, rápido e em 2 segundos estávamos fora do comboio no meio do nada com muita gente local a olhar para nós. Abrimos o Google maps para nos orientarmos e percebemos que estávamos a 4km do dito mercado… Sem taxis nem tuktuks não havia nenhuma opção a não ser andar, apesar de já ser noite e estarmos todos estoirados. Depois de andar um bocado começamos a ver taxis mas como estava muito trânsito para onde queríamos ir, não nos quiseram levar. Um bocado mais tarde lá acabamos por conseguir um taxi que nos levou à estação de skyline e daí para casa. Demoramos muito mais do que se tivéssemos ficado no comboio :-)
